Deed-in-lieu

In effort to avoid a foreclosure, the borrower can turn over the deed to the lender ("in lieu" of foreclosure) to fulfill their responsibility to repay the debt. The borrow still has to vacate the home, but the deed-in-lieu allows them to avoid the cost, time, and effort involved in the foreclosure process.

Previous Loan Term: Deed of trust
Next Loan Term: Default
